Dr. Nikogosian started his medical career in Internal Medicine. He is a member of the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM), the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS) and International Association for Spelling to Communicate (I-ASC). Since 2000, he has gained a broad experience in the conventional medical model as a hospitalist, private practice primary care physician and Chief of Primary Care at the Veterans Administration. Starting in 2014, he shifted his professional focus over to functional medicine and has been finding the root cause for chronic illness in both adults and children ever since. Dr. Nikogosian is married with 4 children including a 14 year old son with ASD. His son was originally diagnosed with severe, level 3, non-verbal ASD with intellectual disability. Today he communicates predominantly with a letterboard and is working towards fluency on a keyboard. There is no evidence of intellectual disability once he established a reliable form of communication. On the contrary, his reading comprehension is at a college level and he is a math savant but in typical teenage fashion he's not too excited by any of that and would rather be hanging out with his siblings and watching Anime. He is currently transitioning over to a 100% general education curriculum at his local high school with his neurotypical peers and has plans to go to college one day.
