I first encountered TRE while running Tsoknyi Gechak School at Tsoknyi Gechak Ling Tibetan Buddhist Nunnery, Kathmandu Nepal in the aftermath of the 2015 earthquake. Two providers joined us for a month and as a community we learned to shake. I was amazed by the intervention’s success: after only 3 sessions we felt restored and supported. I quickly observed that TRE was equally effective for daily life stress and tension and went on to become a provider myself. I’ve practiced mindfulness and meditation for over 25 years and teach in both secular and Buddhist contexts and am in training to be a Gestalt Psychotherapist . TRE is the most empowering and powerful way to directly regulate my nervous system I have ever encountered. It has become a central tool in my personal self-care and one I am passionate to share with others.
