I started the Alaska Family Violence Prevention Project in 1994 after completing public health degrees at Yale School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins University. Specializing in the health effects of trauma, I had the privilege of participating in the first health scientist exchange between Far East Russia and Alaska and have worked throughout rural Alaska. I have travelled around the globe to train service providers and talk with communities to share a message of hope and opportunity. We kw more than ever before about what helps children and adults who experience trauma to heal and are learning more each day. Our brains can change, matter what our age is, and there are simple strategies that we can learn to help released trauma that gets locked in our bodies. Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercise (TRE) is one of those strategies. My mission is to help Alaskans and others learn more about TRE as a tool for self-care and healing.
