I have worked as an Occupational Therapist since 1993. Over the years I have worked with injuries and dysfunction specific to upper extremities, the neck and back. In 2015 I began focused training specific to addressing persistent/chronic pain. That training led me to the concept of a biopsychosocial approach. This approach incorporates the physical, emotional, mental and social aspects of individuals. This led me to a greater awareness of the mechanism in which tension and trauma can have a significant impact on an individual’s physical, emotional and mental state, via the nervous system. Tension and trauma Release Exercises (TRE), are a complimentary skill to help release tension and ease trauma, thereby clearing the path for an overall healthier body and mind. This occurs by offloading life’s daily stressors, as well as previous trauma from the body. Consistently, patients have told me they felt more calm and their bodies relaxed following the use of TRE.
